What makes IISER Thiruvananthapuram special?

The campus is first and foremost what makes IISER TVM so special. One of the most beautiful campuses in India is the IISER TVM campus, which is a part of the Western Ghats mountain ecosystem. It is situated at Vithura, Kerala, near the foothills of the Agasthyamalai hills, about 40 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram, and covers around 200 acres. There is a sizable portion of rainforest there that is next to the Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve. Simply avoid coming here if you only want city life because the closest town is 17 kilometers away. (You must travel 17 kilometres to see a movie.)

A newly developed 5-Year BS-MS program called Integrated and Interdisciplinary Sciences (i2 Sc) is being introduced at IISER TVM to provide a younger generation of students with special education and training. It strives to give the workforce of the future the skills necessary to handle the changing needs, demands, and problems of the modern world. Climate change, food security, healthcare, nourishment, and other significant issues are too complicated to be resolved by biologists, chemists, and physicists on their own. It takes interdisciplinary knowledge and integrated skills in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics to attempt to solve them. Each of the five streams in the i2 Sc curriculum is based on a core discipline and related thematic topics. the basic foundation courses taught throughout theStudents may choose any ONE of these five streams to study advanced courses in the core discipline and specialize in the related theme areas throughout the first two years. The fifth year culminates in a year-long research project.
